Two diamonds that look the same size can be different in weight.
A one-carat diamond is equivalent to 200 milligrams. A diamond
that weighs one carat is equal to 100 points. Thus a .75-carat
diamond is the same as 75 points or 3/4 of a carat diamond.
Diamonds can only be weighed loose. It is possible to estimate
the weight of a mounted diamond by measuring the diamond's diameter.
For example, an average one carat diamond is around 6.5mm in diameter.
Since there are large price differences between sizes of diamonds,
it is important
to buy a diamond by exact weight. At Americus
Diamond you will find that all of our diamonds are tagged with
the exact weight of the diamond. Diamond earrings are sold by
carat total weight (CTW). For example, if you buy a 1.00 CTW
pair of earrings
each earring
would
be 0.50
carat
each.
